Power System Studies Engineer Jacobs is dedicated to solving the world’s most critical problems while accelerating the energy transition. We are seeking a Power System Studies Engineer who will work closely with regional and global power systems teams to deliver projects for renewable developers, transmission owners, utilities, and other stakeholders.

Base Pay Range USD 70,800 – USD 93,000 per year

Responsibilities

Perform power system studies (internal and external) including load flow, short circuit, insulation coordination, TOV, arc flash, harmonics, and interconnection compliance with NERC and other standards.

Support system studies projects throughout the entire lifecycle—ranging from technical bid/proposal to execution, reporting, client meetings, and close‑out.

Deliver projects on time and to budget while maintaining high quality standards.

Collaborate with team members across North America and globally, working with renewable developers, utilities, and ISO/RTO stakeholders.

Participate in ISO/RTO stakeholder forums and technical committees such as IEEE or CIGRE.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Minimum 4 years of direct experience with system studies on utility‐scale renewable projects.

Proficiency with power system study tools such as PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD, or equivalents.

Knowledge of industry standards (IEC, IEEE, CIGRE).

Exceptional problem‑solving and analytical skills focused on achieving results.

Strong teamwork, interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.

Willingness and ability to travel within North America.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with system studies in California and/or WECC.

Experience with offshore wind and HVDC.

Programming skills (e.g., Python) to streamline studies.

Professional Engineer (PE or PEng) license.

Remote Eligibility This position can be performed remotely anywhere in North America. Preference will be given to candidates located in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Toronto, Boston, Orlando, or Dallas/Fort Worth, US.
