Senior Tax Director Location: Tacoma, WA

Base pay range: $240,000.00/yr - $260,000.00/yr

Our client, an investment management firm based in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Senior Tax Director who will be responsible for leading tax planning, compliance, and advisory services for clients. This role ensures accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of tax strategies across estate, income, gift, trust, and philanthropic planning. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate across departments to provide integrated financial solutions.

Responsibilities

Manage the strategic direction of the tax group. Oversee operations, setting strategic goals and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

Act as a primary client contact for complex tax issues and resolutions.

Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

Utilize analytical and critical thinking skills as well as decision‑making skills to assist preparers and reviewers in advising clients.

Review complex individual, trust, estate, fiduciary, corporate, transfer, foundation, partnership, and gift tax returns.

Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services, including research and analysis of tax matters.

Oversee the internal flow of tax planning to ensure accurate and timely filing and completion of such work, manage work flow, and address and timely resolve issues.

Develop and manage business plans and budgets for the Tax Group; identify resource needs and develop supporting justifications.

Stay current with developments in federal, state and local income tax laws, applicable pending legislation, and industry best practices.

Miscellaneous projects and participate in company initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (advanced degree preferred: MBA, MBT, JD, or LLM).

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential, Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent credential, or Licensed Attorney required.

Minimum 8 years of public accounting experience or in law firms or industry.

Minimum 5 years management experience.

Proficiency with tax compliance software and research tools.
