JOB DESCRIPTION The Janet Mills for Senate campaign is seeking an organized, creative, and highly motivated team player to serve as Deputy Digital Director for Content in one of the most high-profile races in the nation in 2026. The Deputy will work within the Digital team to deliver Governor Mills’ message across the internet. This role will report directly to the Digital Director and work to develop and oversee content strategy, content creation, and platform management for the campaign. The Deputy will eventually supervise a core team managing our platforms and multimedia production.

This is a full-time, salaried exempt position based in Portland, Maine.

Job Responsibilities

Design and execute focused, intentional content strategy to grow online following

Manage the day-to-day operations of the digital content team and output

Manage social media platforms, and develop multi-platform creative including copy, graphics, and video

Assist with the campaign’s rapid response and video strategies

Strategize on content ideas and manage a content calendar that executes the campaign’s goals

Develop creative assets, including graphics and microsites, as needed

Closely monitor social media trends and potential rapid-response moments

Facilitate the approvals process for campaign content

Assist with digital shoots and capturing content, including coordination with paid media firm

Other responsibilities as needed to support the Digital department and all other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

2+ cycles of experience creating content and/or managing social media accounts for a campaign, agency, or non-profit

Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator), or others

Experience writing, editing, and proofing social media content that drives action and maintains a consistent voice

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for data-driven processes

Access to cell phone and laptop

A desire to work long and random campaign hours, including evenings and weekends in 2026

Ability to manage and complete multiple projects under competing and tight deadlines

Access to a car and ability to easily travel
