As an Environmental Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and supporting the implementation of environmental management programs. Under the supervision of the SDMS SHE Manager, you will assist in environmental inspections, hazardous materials and waste management, and other compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct documented inspections for Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) compliance
Assist in weekly containment inspections, central accumulation area inspections, and monthly stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) inspections
Support hazardous materials and hazardous waste compliance efforts at Naval Base San Diego
Assist in spill clean-up and provide support for BAE Systems over-water oil transfers
Issue waste drums for various crafts, including proper labeling, database entry, and tracking through disposal
Organize waste streams for shipment

Ability to work independently and also as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent walking, standing, and lifting
Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain
Preferred Skills and Education
Experience driving a forklift.
Note: Driver License would be required for forklift certification.
Adept at managing hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
Experience conducting documented environmental compliance inspections.
