Key Position Details This position supports our Cardiovascular ICU at Abbott Northwestern.
7 on/7 off and then 5 on/9 off rotating schedule
12-hour shifts (7a - 7p)
Carry a patient load of up to 10 patients seen independently with physician support for high level decision making
Post operative cardiac surgery care
PA catheter interpretation
Basic ventilator management (perhaps excluding severe ARDS and status asthmaticus)
Pressor management in shock states (distributive, hypovolemic, cardiogenic, obstructive, mixed)
Management of GI bleed
ICU best practices with special attention to CV specific items (post op anticoagulation, beta blocker, etc)

Job Description Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a Physician/Physician Assistant team in accordance with the designated specialty. Works in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Serves as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team. Principle Responsibilities
Provides clinical care for patients
Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
Referred for specialty care when determined.
Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
Participates in health care teamn Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
Acts as resource to members of the team.
Works with primary care team for program development.
Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program
Preferred Qualifications
New grads may be considered. Minimum of 2 years' experience in critical care
Licenses/Certifications
Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 Days
Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire
Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Pay Range Pay Range: $137,301 to $173,472 per yearThe pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
