They are looking for a CFO to guide the organization’s financial strategy and ensure the smooth functioning of its fiscal operations. In this role you will oversee budgeting, accounting, grants administration, and revenue processes, and serve as the primary point of contact for financial institutions, external advisors, and insurance partners.
Leadership & Department Oversight
Provide direct leadership to the finance leadership team, set performance expectations and ensuring alignment with organizational policies and statutory requirements.
Establish operating practices that support the organization’s long‑term financial goals, including evaluating emerging opportunities and risks across programs and business lines.
Track economic and industry trends and assess their implications for the organization’s strategic direction.
Financial Strategy & Organizational Guidance
Monitor financial strength and recommend adjustments to strengthen sustainability and performance.
Evaluate the financial implications of operational decisions and present findings to senior leadership.
Serve as the senior finance representative on the executive team and act as the principal liaison to the Board of Directors, including support for various committees.
Maintain and improve departmental systems, tools, and workflows, ensuring all team members are proficient with the organization’s accounting, billing, and grants‑management platforms.
Accounting, Reporting & Compliance
Oversee the annual budgeting cycle, ensuring thorough, timely preparation of both operating and capital budgets. Lead the creation of accurate recurring financial reports needed for compliance, internal review, and strategic planning.
Manage procedures related to procurement, purchasing, payables, and receivables.
Ensure adherence to all state and federal audit standards; manage the production and submission of audited financials and cost reports.
Direct the financial components of grant applications and ensure that all grants, contracts, and contributions are tracked, recorded, and utilized in accordance with donor and regulatory requirements.
Provide oversight for Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), ensuring the optimization of reimbursement processes, the integration of new technologies, and the elimination of operational bottlenecks.
Investments, Assets & Risk Management
Work with financial custodians and advisors to monitor endowment performance and ensure compliance with investment policies, spending rules, loan covenants, and related agreements.
Monitor leases, tax responsibilities, and required filings; validate that insurance coverage sufficiently protects the organization, its people, and its assets.
Required Skills & Core Competencies
Expertise in MS Office with advanced competency in Excel.
Hands‑on experience with enterprise‑level accounting platforms, including purchasing modules.
Experience with HR/payroll platforms (e.g., Paylocity) and clinical or practice management systems (e.g., Epic).
Working knowledge of federal grant reporting systems and payment management requirements.
Background & Experience
Master’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration, plus 10 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Substantial leadership experience in finance with progressive responsibility over the course of one’s career.
Prior experience in nonprofit organizations, healthcare, or federally qualified health centers is highly advantageous.
Proven capability in managing compliance across finance, billing, grants, investments, and accounting functions.
