Until
This range is provided by Until. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Base pay range $70,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
Until is a moonshot company building a “pause button” for biology. Our near-term focus is organ-scale reversible cryopreservation: preserving donated organs at subzero temperatures without ice formation, then rewarming them uniformly for transplant. By solving this grand challenge, we’re laying the foundation for whole-body reversible cryopreservation, giving patients a bridge to future cures.
To achieve our goal, we are assembling an interdisciplinary team to develop perfusion systems, cryoprotectant formulations, and vitrification and rewarming hardware. We envision a future where no transplantable organ is lost to logistics, and no terminal diagnosis is final because patients can safely wait for future medicine to arrive.
About the role We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lab Technician to support the Molecular Development team in executing high-throughput molecular discovery workflows. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to grow their bench skills, learn advanced screening methods, and contribute directly to the discovery of new cryoprotective molecules.
This role focuses on reliable operation of the molecular discovery pipeline, maintaining lab readiness, preparing reagents, supporting cell culture and assay execution, and assisting with sample handling. The role requires a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours, which will be assigned based on the needs of the team.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare buffers, media, and reagents to support high-throughput screening and molecular assays
Assist with mammalian cell culture workflows, including passaging, plating, and maintaining sterile environments
Support execution of plate-based assays including fluorescence, luminescence, and absorbance readouts
Help prepare samples for molecular assays such as qPCR, imaging, and related workflows. Maintain a clean and well-organized laboratory, including dishwashing, autoclaving, and general equipment upkeep
Track consumables, reagents, and stock items; support ordering and inventory management
Assist with basic equipment maintenance and calibration (pipettes, plate readers, incubators, etc.)
Document experimental activities clearly and accurately, including labeling, data entry, and sample organization
Collaborate with scientists to ensure efficient experimental execution and contribute to improving protocols and workflows
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or related fields
At least 2 years of laboratory experience (academic or industry)
Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques, aseptic technique, and lab safety
Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with formulation work or analytical chemistry methods
Experience with fluorescence/luminescence assays, microscopy, qPCR, molecular biology workflows
Enthusiasm for learning new techniques and growing in a fast paced environment
Who You Are
Early-career scientist excited to build technical depth at the bench
Organized, proactive, and able to maintain smooth lab operations
Curious, adaptable, and motivated to contribute to a mission-driven research team
Benefits
A mission-driven environment tackling one of the hardest problems in medicine
The opportunity to build and direct a world-class imaging program from the ground up
A deeply interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and builders
Generous medical, dental and vision insurance coverage
Flexible time off and paid holidays
Competitive compensation package, including salary and equity
Access to a 401(k) retirement savings plan
FSA and commuter benefits
Subsidized lunch daily
