We have been retained by a small yet growing, privately held manufacturing organization in the greater Boston area to find a hands‑on, forward‑thinking Vice President of Operations / GM to lead day‑to‑day operations while shaping the long‑term strategic direction of the business. This is a pivotal role for a leader who thrives in small machining and job shop environments and enjoys building structure, developing teams, and driving commercial and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Improve workflow, throughput, quality, and shop‑floor efficiency
Implement and formalize processes while honoring existing craftsmanship
Drive continuous improvement across production, scheduling, and quality
Identify and prioritize capital investments that support growth
Business & Financial Ownership
Manage full P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and cost structure
Strengthen pricing discipline and margin performance
Partner with ownership on strategic planning and long‑term roadmap
Serve as a key customer‑facing leader for capability discussions and technical support
Support quoting, relationship development, and expansion of existing accounts
Identify new opportunities within target industries
People & Culture
Lead and develop a skilled team across production, engineering, and support functions
Build accountability, communication, and clarity across roles
Recruit and mentor future talent as the organization scales
Qualifications
10+ years of operational leadership experience in machining, precision manufacturing, or job‑shop environments
Experience leading a small manufacturing organization or division
Strong understanding of machining workflows, shop‑floor processes, and quality systems
Proven success improving operations, building structure, and driving measurable results
Experience supporting or leading certification initiatives such as ISO, AS9100, or similar
Demonstrated ability to work with customers, support quoting, and strengthen commercial performance
Hands‑on leadership style with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically
Strong communication skills and the ability to unify teams during periods of change
Pay range and compensation package Base Salary: $160,000 to $180,000
Additional: Annual performance bonus + potential long‑term incentive structure tied to growth
