Responsibilities
Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
Recommend, participate in, and work to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
Accept patient referrals from other physicians and serve as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses.
Participate in academic programs (e.g., medical education and research) as requested.
Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultations for specialty areas, which may include on‑call schedules.
Act as a member of a collegial hospitalist team at USA Health Providence, a full-service 349‑bed hospital with 24/7 emergency care, personalized maternity care, and advanced programs in heart care, bariatric surgery, and cancer care.
Operate in partnership with the USA Health Providence system, which includes USA Health University Hospital, USA Health Children’s and Women’s Hospital, USA Mitchell Cancer Institute, USA Physicians Group, USA Health Care Authority, and the USA College of Medicine.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited medical school.
Licensure with the State of Alabama Board.
Board‑eligible or board‑certified in internal medicine.
Certified in the clinical area and DEA registration.
USA Hospital staff privileges eligible.
