About St. Chrysostom’s Episcopal Church & Day School The St. Chrysostom’s Day School (“SCDS”), a preschool focusing on students from age seven (7) months to five (5) years, is located in the beautiful Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago. Founded over 50 years ago, SCDS has an engaged parent and alumni network that lovingly supports the school. SCDS has 22 teachers and staff, an enrollment of 155 students, and an annual budget of $2 million. The courtyard‑centric campus has ten classrooms and numerous multi‑purpose areas. SCDS is looking for a warm, experienced and invested leader who will be proactive and hands‑on in guiding the school and community through its next chapter.
Responsibilities
Lead the school and community through its next chapter, ensuring proactive, hands‑on guidance of academic and operational activities.
Qualifications & Experience Qualifications & Experience: Our ideal candidate will hold, at minimum, the credentials required by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) for a preschool director, including relevant college coursework and experience in early childhood education. They will preferably have a master’s degree in educational leadership, school administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of graduate education and extensive leadership experience. We are seeking a minimum of five years of experience in early childhood or independent school education, including classroom experience, as well as at least five years of senior administrative leadership, ideally in an independent school environment. Experience with Episcopal or faith‑based school environments is preferred but not required.
Location Location: The successful candidate must be based in or willing to relocate to the Chicagoland area.
Compensation Compensation: The role offers a yearly salary of up to $125,000. SCDS values its employees and offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support their well‑being.
