Overview Nocturnist Emergency Medicine Physician – Greenwich Hospital (CT) – Level III Trauma Center, 27 beds. Location: 5 Perryridge Road, Greenwich, CT 06830. Part‑time. 8‑hour shifts 11p‑7a. Position type: Emergency Medicine Physician. EMR: EPIC.

Responsibilities

Clinical Duties: Rapid evaluation and stabilization of critical adult, pediatric, medical, surgical, gynecologic, obstetrical, and trauma‑related conditions. Resuscitate acutely ill and injured patients in all ED areas: main ED, Fast Track, Behavioral Health Unit (BHU).

Medical Leadership Duties: Serve as PIC (Physician in Charge) when assigned, collaborating with charge nurse to manage patient flow throughout the ED and handle administrative issues when the director is absent. Shift patient flow from one area to another to expedite care. Contact ED medical director for significant issues and inform the medical director of significant risk‑management or patient‑care concerns.

Interrelationships / Administrative Duties: Interact collegially with private physicians, hospitalists, medicine residents. Contact private physicians to provide updates on patient condition and seek input for consultant selection. Coordinate patient care by contacting the correct private physician and seeking the PMD's input into the consultant called and specialist for referral at discharge.

Qualifications Education : MD or DO from an accredited medical school, completion of an approved emergency medicine residency with board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine.

Experience : Same requirement as education; proven clinical competency in managing acutely ill and injured patients of all ages.

Special Skills : Management of acutely ill and injured patients; proficiency in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Proficiency with department computer for patient management, order entry, tracking, laboratory and imaging retrieval. Licensure & Certification: Licensed as MD in Connecticut and New York State; DEA controlled‑substance certificate; Connecticut Department of Consumer Affairs permit.

Physical Demand : High patient volume and critical care setting requiring frequent walking, bending, stooping, standing for 8‑hour shifts across day, night, and evening rotations. Ability to lift 5–300 pounds, perform chest compressions, and maintain fine motor control for procedures such as central line, thoracostomy, endotracheal intubation, suturing, and splint application.
