About the Role As a Senior Software Engineer on the CoCounsel for Tax and Accounting team, you will:
Design & implement backend services that power AI‑native products for accounting research and workflows such as tax filing, advisory, and audit.
Develop and maintain services using Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
Implement AI orchestration systems integrating LLMs from OpenAI, Anthropic, and other providers.
Design APIs and logic for real‑time AI interactions.
Ensure backend systems are secure, scalable, and optimized for AI applications.
Monitor and improve system performance across millions of documents and interactions.
Collaborate with AI researchers, frontend developers, product managers, and designers to translate AI capabilities into production solutions.
Champion experimentation and continuous improvement, exploring new AI technologies.
About You Required Experience & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
4+ years of backend development building scalable web services and APIs.
Strong Python skills with experience in FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
Experience in distributed systems, API and data model design.
Strong debugging skills and a track record of production‑grade software.
Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration.
Passion for AI‑driven software and new engineering paradigms.
Creative problem‑solving and comfort in fast‑paced, evolving environments.
Preferred Skills & Experience Experience with AI‑driven systems, agent‑based architectures, and AI APIs from OpenAI or Anthropic. Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, or search‑based AI. Strong opinions on backend testing strategies and automation.
