The Virtualization Engineer is responsible for the upkeep, monitoring, configuration, and reliable operation of Forvis Mazars' virtualization infrastructure. The role requires deep analytical problem‑remediation skills to maximize server uptime and investment.

What You Will Do
Administer bare metal and virtualization hosts running Windows and Linux for performance, capacity, security, and stability.
Analyze inefficiencies in the server virtualization stack and perform remediations.
Perform application and operating system installation, configuration, and maintenance.
Create and maintain golden image templates across multiple OS.
Day‑to‑day administration: Nutanix HCIs, Dell EMC Isilon, Active Directory, server setup, log review, security remediation, and other duties.
Work with Microsoft stack (Office, Server, Skype, System Center, SQL, etc.), VMware, Hyper‑V, Nutanix, ServiceNow, Splunk, and client‑specific applications.
Use Microsoft Server 2008R2‑2016 DFS share permissions, NAS, and improve virtualization stack with minimal impact.
Collaborate with the Server Engineer Manager on virtualization infrastructure architecture.
Use network packet diagnosis tools (e.g., Wireshark) and virtualization tools (e.g., Foglight, Veeam) to resolve performance issues.
Document issues, create remediation plans, and produce root‑cause analyses.
Provide escalation support to service desk and enterprise application teams.
Support deployment, compliance, and operation of security technologies.
Ensure virtualization layer, OS, and apps are appropriately patched.
Work closely with security department on regulatory compliance.
Conduct research into database issues and products as required.
Present ideas in user‑friendly language.
Participate in on‑call rotation and be available for after‑hours calls.
Prioritize and execute tasks under high pressure.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma.
3–5 years of experience in a similar role.
Mastery of server and application virtualization methodologies.
Strong knowledge of VMware, Hyper‑V, and KVM.
Knowledge of Windows, Linux, and scripting languages.
Experience with REST, Puppet, Chef, and other automation technologies.
Understanding of interoperability across multiple OS in virtualized environments.
Knowledge of RAID configurations and storage protocols (NFS, iSCSI, SMB, FC).
Knowledge of network protocols, remote server configs, business integrations, and certificates.
Strong technical understanding of Windows server administration to meet corporate standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
5+ years of relevant experience.
