A Day in the Life The Global Director – Distribution Setup will lead the strategic design, implementation, and optimization of global distribution networks to support the company’s supply chain objectives. This role is responsible for establishing new distribution centers, ensuring operational excellence, and aligning global distribution strategies with business growth plans. Responsibilities

Strategic Network Design & Setup: Execute global distribution strategies aligned with corporate objectives. Identify optimal locations for distribution centers based on market demand, cost efficiency, and service level requirements.

Systems & Process Management: Support system implementations for order fulfilment, tracking, logging, verifying, and reporting shipments and receipts. Implement best practices for inventory control, freight bill processing, and documentation accuracy.

Warehouse Operations Designs: Engineer flows, working with cross‑functional teams and 3PLs for optimum layouts and establishing processes for receipt of incoming materials, storage of products, quality and regulatory compliances for handling of finished products, raw stock, assemblies, parts, and value‑added activities as required.

Reporting & Compliance: Report materials shipped, prepare bills of lading, and ensure accurate posting of weight and shipping charges. Ensure compliance with global shipping practices, transportation routing, schedules, and regulatory requirements.

Leadership & Collaboration: Collaborate cross‑functionally with procurement, manufacturing, regulatory, quality, sales, and IT teams for seamless integration. Manage relationships with third‑party logistics providers and external partners.

Financial & Risk Management: Manage budgets for distribution setup projects and drive cost optimization initiatives. Assess and mitigate risks related to global distribution, including geopolitical and supply chain disruptions.

Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field and 10+ years of experience in global logistics, distribution network design, and operations leadership.

Advanced Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field and 10+ years of experience in global logistics, distribution network design, and operations leadership.

Preferred Certifications

APICS CPIM or CSCP

Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt)

PMP or equivalent project management certification

Proven track record of setting up and managing large‑scale distribution centers internationally.

Strong knowledge of supply chain technologies, WMS/TMS systems, and automation solutions.

Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced, matrixed global environment.

Benefits & Compensation Medtronic offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits package. Salary ranges for U.S. (excl. PR): $159,200.00 – $238,800.00. Position eligible for Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP) and annual long‑term incentive plan. Base salary range complies with regulations.

Benefits for staff working >20 hours per week include health, dental and vision insurance, health savings account, healthcare flexible spending account, life insurance, long‑term disability leave, dependent daycare spending account, tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps global well‑being program.
