Applications Engineer Location : Costa Mesa, CA (relocation assistance provided)

Pay Range (Hourly) : $34.43 to $55.15 ($70,720-$114,400)

Schedule : 8:00-4:30 with 25% travel

Required skill : Experience working in an Industrial Machine Manufacturing company is required. Customer service - in this role, you will support both pre- and post-sales, providing product demos and after-sales support. Experience with SolidWorks or other design software would be helpful, as would exposure to blueprints.

As an Applications Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting our Sales and Applications teams by showcasing advanced standalone and specialized machines. You'll lead product demonstrations, conduct time studies, and provide expert post-sales support to ensure our customers achieve success with our solutions.

Applications Engineer Responsibilities

Perform standard and custom demos for standalone machines, as well as at least one automated system and one niche machine with a high degree of customer satisfaction.

Use proprietary and other software to create time studies and sample parts to customer requirements, including for at least one automated system and one niche machine. Provide customer training and production support on standalone machines, as well as at least one automated system and one niche machine.

Provide training to new Applications Engineers, as well as employees in the Training, Engineering, and Service departments, on applications techniques as required.

Provide customer technical support via phone and email.

Exhibit advanced programming skills (control and offline) for standard machines with the current company programming system and at least one additional offline programming software, as well as for at least one automated system and one niche machine.

Develop new demo parts and redesign parts for the customer as required.

Exhibit a complete understanding of the benefits of specific machine features and an ability to discuss the unique value of each.

Determine the proper selection of standard and special punch or press brake tools, or derive laser tech tables for specialty applications.

Exhibit complete knowledge of the company's technical documentation library and ability to apply it in daily work.

Prepare and execute customer machine demonstrations at trade shows as required.

Host Sales Rep training seminars as required.

Ensure assigned machines are clean, fully functional, and ready for demonstrations every day.

Experience/Education At least 3 years of application experience in the machine tool industry is required. Excellent communication and networking skills are a must, as well as the ability to work independently. A basic understanding of project management and the ability to train colleagues is a plus. Minimum 2-year technical school degree, 4-year degree is preferred, or a suitable equivalent of education and work experience.
