Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Physician Assistant – Woodhull – General Surgery and Surgical Subspecialties. Under the supervision of an assigned Attending Physician, you will perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and render varied medical services to provide comprehensive patient care at NYU Langone‑Woodhull.
Job Responsibilities
Elicit detailed and accurate history and perform appropriate physical examinations on inpatients and outpatients.
Perform BLS and ACLS procedures in life‑threatening situations such as cardiac and/or respiratory distress when a physician is unavailable, and with a physician when appropriate.
Assist the supervising physician and back‑up physicians on any other procedures falling within their scope of practice.
Instruct and counsel patients and families about preventive care, medical problems, prescribed treatments and drugs, normal growth and development, family planning, situational adjustment reactions, and other topics.
Participate in team conferences, lectures, and grand rounds for the service.
Participate in daily rounds to observe and record pertinent progress of patients, update charts, write orders and progress notes, and notify the physician of changes in the patient’s condition when appropriate.
Initiate consultations and refer patients for special testing according to hospital protocols.
Perform specific procedures, including but not limited to: drawing blood specimens for testing; blood counts; urinalysis; pap smears; bacteriologic smears; gram stain of sputum and other culturable material; vital capacity; administering oxygen; incisions and drainage; wound care and debridement; nasogastric and nasotracheal intubation; gastric analysis; lumbar punctures; routine suturing of lacerations; skin biopsies; placing indwelling arterial catheters and making blood gas determinations; applying and removing casts and traction apparatus; starting IV solutions; administering IV medications and other therapeutic procedures for which you have received specific supervised training and evaluation.
Order and interpret appropriate laboratory tests, X‑ray, EKGs, and diagnostic procedures, and write prescriptions according to protocols established by the service and in compliance with New York State rules and regulations governing the performance of physician assistants.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Current New York State Physician Assistant License
NCCPA certification
Physician Assistant Bachelor’s Degree (BA‑PA)
BLS and ACLS certification
PALS required per delineation of privileges

Salary NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with New York State Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $133,030.00 – $178,080.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
