JR0015764## **Job Description:**A Registered Respiratory Therapist is an individual who has been registered by the National board for Respiratory Care, Inc., after successfully completing all education, experience, and examination requirements. (Source: Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospital; Glossary: Accreditation Manual for Hospital).**Education:*** High School Diploma or above* Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy Preferred ***or**** Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Therapy Preferred***Additional Experience Requirements:**** NRP Certification required for RT's who work in the ICN at Walnut Creek campus. NICU trained Respiratory Therapists shall have additional training and experience in Neonatal Respiratory Care. Additional training shall be demonstrated by the following:
1. Completion of a formal neonatal respiratory therapy course at an approved school of respiratory therapy that includes didactic and clinical course work, ***or***
2. Completion of a minimum of 20 hours of didactic and four weeks of preceptored neonatal clinical experience in a hospital based course.

Respiratory Therapist’s receiving their initial RRT certification prior to July 1st, 2002 will not be, per NBRC guidelines, required to renew this certification to maintain their RRT credentials and meet the minimum requirement of this job description
