Position Summary The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Florida (USF) seeks a board‑certified or board‑eligible physician in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) for a joint clinical and academic appointment with Shady Grove Fertility (SGF) Tampa Bay.
The successful candidate will provide exceptional, evidence‑based reproductive clinical care and surgery, contribute to the advancement of research and education in the field, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a high‑volume academic medical center.
This role offers a unique opportunity to integrate clinical practice with academic responsibilities, including teaching, research, and scholarly activities.
The primary focus of the REI will be the clinical care of fertility patients at SGF Tampa Bay locations, performance of reproductive surgeries at USF/TGH, supervision and teaching of REI fellows, OB‑GYN residents, and medical students, and conducting of clinical research.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive care in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, including: Fertility evaluations and treatments (e.g., IUI, IVF, ovulation induction)
Endocrine disorders affecting reproduction
Fertility preservation and third‑party reproduction
Reproductive surgery (minimally invasive, hysteroscopic, laparoscopic) at Tampa General Hospital
Participate in outpatient clinics, surgical procedures, and on‑call coverage as needed
Collaborate with nursing, embryology, and allied health staff to ensure high‑quality patient outcomes
Support expansion of clinical programs, including innovations in ART, fertility preservation, and LGBTQ+ family‑building
Teaching / Academic Responsibilities
Educate and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows
Lead or participate in didactic sessions, journal clubs, and grand rounds
Serve as a preceptor in clinical rotations
Research and Scholarly Activity
Participate in or lead clinical, translational, or basic science research aligned with REI
Seek external funding and publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals
Present at regional and national conferences
Administration and Leadership
Participate in departmental, college, and university service
Represent the department in institutional initiatives and external professional activities
Qualifications – Required
MD, MD/Ph.D. or DO from an accredited medical school
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic, research, and service
For Associate/Full Professor – Will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in peer‑reviewed journals and be recognized authority in the field of REI
Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required.
Candidates must obtain and maintain a full unrestricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals assigned to perform clinical duties
Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology and REI
Demonstrated excellence in clinical care and commitment to patient‑centered practice
Preferred Qualifications
Academic teaching and research experience
Record of scholarly publication or research funding
Interest in leadership, program development, or innovation in reproductive medicine
