Orthopaedic Sports Surgeon – University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Position Type: Permanent Faculty (Open Rank), Full-time and full FTE.
Location: North Carolina, US
Hours per week: 40, proposed start date: 02/02/2026.
Position Summary The Department of Orthopaedics at UNC is seeking a full‑time board certified/eligible academic orthopaedic sports surgeon. The ideal candidate will have expertise or strong interest in shoulder, hip, elbow, and knee—including advanced cartilage restoration, osteotomies, multi‑ligament knee injuries, and, as a bonus, knee arthroplasty. The role includes teaching orthopaedic residents and fellows, active scholarship and research, clinical care across the academic medical center, community practices, and statewide health system, and engagement with the Primary Care Sports team serving UNC athletes.
Responsibilities
Teach orthopaedic residents and fellows.
Engage in scholarship and research.
Provide high‑quality patient care as part of the orthopaedic team and Primary Care Sports team.
Develop and contribute to a robust academic program.
Serve academic medical center, community practices, and statewide health system.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
M.D. or D.O.
Board certified or board eligible in orthopaedics.
Licensure in the State of North Carolina.
Fellowship‑trained in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Strong interest in complex knee conditions.
