Within Amazon’s Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis team (FP&A), we enjoy a unique perspective on all that happens within Amazon. This exciting opportunity invites a scientist to join our Financial Transformation team, where you will harness statistical and machine‑learning models to revolutionize finance forecasting across the entire company and its business units. As a key player in this innovative group, you’ll apply state‑of‑the‑art scientific approaches and emerging technologies to solve complex financial challenges. Your deep domain expertise will be instrumental in identifying and addressing customer needs, often venturing into uncharted territory where textbook solutions are unavailable. You’ll have the chance to author Finance AI articles, showcasing your novel work to internal and external audiences.
Key job responsibilities: You will develop production‑ready science models and components that directly impact large‑scale systems and services, decide on implementation complexity and technology adoption, lead MLOps initiatives, optimize compute and inference usage, enhance system performance, contribute to financial strategic planning, mentor team members, and represent our technology organization in the broader scientific community. This role blends hands‑on development, strategic thinking, and thought‑leadership at the intersection of finance and advanced analytics.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of building models for business application experience
PhD or Master’s degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high‑performance computing
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using Unix/Linux
Experience in professional software development
Compensation and Benefits Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. Base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest market to $223,400/year in our highest market. Pay depends on market location and may vary with job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company; equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be offered as part of the package, in addition to medical, financial, and other benefits.
