Agile Development Director
Location: Onsite in McLean, VA (5 days a week)
Must Have Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in Java, Python, Cloud‑AWS, Microservices, Kubernetes, Angular. 7–8 years of leadership leading developers.
Responsibilities:
The Chief Development Lead Manager (CDL) will be the point of contact for 5–6 development leads and responsible for:
Delivering software end to end, from local development to production deployment and ongoing operations.
Developing best practices on software development and tool usage for teams.
Vendor management and contract oversight.
Coordinating releases with business stakeholders.
Maintaining a strategic view that includes technical thinking, market research, cost efficiency, risk mitigation, and long‑term planning.
Hands‑on coding to create Proof of Concepts (PoCs) for team execution; no involvement in developing user stories.
Requirements:
Design overall technological design of the product with teams and BU Architect.
Ensure technical detailed design is compliant with architecture decisions; alert architect if compliance cannot be met.
Guide Agile teams on technology strategy, coding practices, continuous integration, and automated deployment.
Responsible for technical design and infrastructure/environments strategy, including deployments aligned with product roadmap and MVP mindset.
Empower teams and provide tools to deliver sprint goals.
Mentor and coach technical team, including Dev Leads, focusing on code quality when needed.
Identify and remove technical impediments.
Collaborate with Chief Product Owner to align roadmap with strengths and opportunities within the technical stack.
Continuously seek better ways of solving technical problems and designing solutions, challenging the status quo.
Provide teams with a roadmap for implementing software engineering practices.
Share responsibility with Chief Product Owner for building reusable and scalable components.
Provide transparency to Dev Leads and Architecture for evolving priority and design changes.
