Responsibilities

High-complexity patients requiring advanced critical care interventions in the Medical ICU (MICU).

Surgical ICU (SICU) – trauma, neuro, and post‑operative intensive care.

Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) – advanced cardiac support, including open‑heart surgery recovery and ECMO therapy.

Patient Care: Deliver compassionate and evidence‑based nursing care to critically ill patients.

Monitoring: Utilize advanced monitoring technology to assess and interpret vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and other relevant data; respond promptly to changes in patient status.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Critical Thinking: Apply advanced critical thinking skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans for complex medical conditions.

Advocacy: Serve as a patient and family advocate, providing emotional support and ensuring their needs are met throughout the care journey.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

Education: Provide patient and family education on medical conditions, treatment plans, and post‑discharge care.

Quality Improvement: Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

Qualifications

DC RN license or eligibility.

Critical Care experience: 2 years full‑time or 4 years part‑time.

BLS certification.

ACLS certification.
