Role Overview We are seeking a Business Development Manager to lead business growth initiatives for NACOS Marine within the government and defense vessel segment, including navy, coast guard, and other federal maritime programs.
In this key role, you will identify and develop opportunities for new‑build and retrofit projects, build strong relationships with senior government stakeholders, and influence decision‑making processes at the highest level. You will act as a trusted partner between NACOS Marine and U.S. federal entities, shipyards, and primes, supporting the organization in achieving strategic growth in the government market.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in naval or coast guard operations, business development in the defense sector, and the ability to engage confidently with senior‑level officials and industry leaders.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and map government vessel programs (new‑builds and retrofits) and align them with NACOS Marine solutions.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the procurement and buying process for U.S. government maritime programs.
Reconnect with existing installation owners to offer lifetime service and upgrade solutions.
Perform shipyard mapping and create tailored value propositions for specific projects.
Build and manage relationships with prime contractors, shipyards, and federal stakeholders.
Lead and coordinate government strategy for the AMER region, ensuring alignment with global objectives.
Ensure full compliance with U.S. government systems and requirements (SAM.gov, govconinabox.com, Canada.ca).
Identify and onboard business partners and industry collaborators to strengthen outreach and capability.
Utilize relationships with lobbyists, industry associations, and defense organizations to support NACOS Marine visibility and influence.
Coordinate technical and strategic meetings between NACOS and key government agencies (e.g., ONR, NRL, MARAD).
Act as a driver for trade shows, conferences, and industry engagement activities.
Achieve order intake and revenue targets in line with the company’s growth plans.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Proven sales or business development experience within the government or defense maritime sector.
Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with senior executives, government officials, and key decision‑makers.
Background in naval, coast guard, or sealift operations; experience as a retired officer or commander is highly valued.
Excellent understanding of federal procurement processes and government contracting.
Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Strategic thinker with the ability to influence decisions at the highest levels.
U.S. citizenship is required; ability to obtain security clearance if needed.
Willingness to travel up to 40–50% domestically and occasionally internationally.
