Job Summary

The Senior Estimator is responsible for delivering precise and competitive cost estimates for CNC machined parts and assemblies. This position requires a deep understanding of machining processes, materials, and tooling. The Senior Estimator works closely with engineering, programming, production, and procurement teams to ensure manufacturability, sourcing efficiency, and accuracy in every quote.

Position Description

Develop detailed cost estimates for CNC projects, accounting for materials, labor, machining time, tooling, and setups for milling, turning, and multi‑tasking machines.

Prepare competitive bids and proposals that align with project specifications and quality standards.

Technical Analysis:

Read and interpret technical drawings, including GD&T, and assess quality control requirements.

Evaluate machining practices such as material removal rates, material types, tooling, and setups.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration:

Work with production, engineering, quality, and procurement teams to optimize manufacturability, supplier sourcing, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.

Provide feedback to the quoting and process planning teams to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Market & Cost Monitoring:

Stay current on market trends, material costs, and evolving CNC machining technologies to ensure competitive estimates.

Time Management & Organization:

Manage multiple concurrent quote requests, ensuring timely delivery of accurate estimates.

Maintain organized records of quotes, revisions, and supporting documentation for easy reference and audit readiness.

Position Requirements

Minimum 5 years experience in CNC machining estimation within a contract manufacturing environment.

Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T specifications.

Deep understanding machining practices, including material removal rates, tooling, and setups for milling, turning, and multi‑tasking CNC machines.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Excellent time management and organizational abilities to handle competing priorities and tight deadlines.

Proficiency in cost estimation software and CAD/CAM tools.
