Base pay range $38.98/hr - $83.94/hr
Position Summary The Quality Improvement Specialist RN is a registered nurse who facilitates the development, implementation and evaluation of hospital and Fetal Care and Surgery Center based quality improvement projects and initiatives that support department and organizational strategy and goals. Collaborates with Patient Care Operations’ staff and shared governance councils to promote a culture that encourages and supports quality assurance and performance improvement. Works with leadership to build departmental and organizational capability to improve patient care outcomes, experience and value. Identifies opportunities for process improvement and leads clinical related projects and initiatives that support the Patient Care Operations strategy and goals. Provides professional support and education for quality improvement programs.
Key Responsibilities
Attend weekly Fetal Intervention patient review meeting.
Participate in Fetal Care and Surgery Center Quality Triad.
Collaborate with clinical nursing team and physician leads on quality improvement initiatives driven by data.
Participate in and provide quality improvement support and consultation for hospital and unit/department‑based committees, councils, programs and special projects.
Plan and conduct educational programs for hospital staff. Identify learning needs of target audience(s) and develop and prepare course curriculum and related instructional materials.
Collaborate with subject matter experts and advise on performance improvement tools, methods and criteria for monitoring care delivery processes and outcomes.
Develop measurement plans and assist in data collection and analysis.
Provide support and education for the development of process and outcome performance measures centered on patient safety and quality.
Manage select hospital‑wide performance improvement projects and initiatives.
Analyze and interpret data and present recommendations to improve quality of care.
Design programs and maintain databases to support and produce various reporting and requests for ad‑hoc analysis.
Respond to requests for data from physicians or other internal departments.
Education
Minimum: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Experience
Minimum of 4 years of progressive clinical experience (RN).
Analytical skills to resolve complex problems using scientific or technical principles and experience‑based knowledge.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to influence, persuade and negotiate to ensure successful implementation and ongoing measurement of quality metrics.
Some data management experience and proficiency in use of Microsoft Office and RedCap.
Basic understanding of the research process and participation in dissemination of findings. Work requires participation in evidence‑based practices as necessary.
Ability to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Licensure/Certifications
Current Massachusetts license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good‑faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job‑related factors.
