(On-site) * Incumbent must work in the office in Atlanta four (4) days per week and may work remotely one (1) day per week with manager approval Summary: The transmission planning department of MEAG Power is seeking a transmission planning engineer to join a team that manages a diversified portfolio of transmission planning projects. This role is ideal for an engineer with experience in the power industry, who is self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working under the supervision of the Manager of Transmission Planning & Services. Responsibilities include conducting transmission system studies, proposing system improvements, prioritizing tasks, and supporting MEAG’s participants by ensuring system reliability and regulatory compliance. Our focus includes large load interconnection studies across various sectors such as data centers, EV charging, manufacturing, agriculture, business parks, and warehouses. The team collaborates with participants and internal teams to develop interconnection solutions, capacity upgrades, and long-term transmission strategies to support high growth in Georgia. Qualifications: 1. Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with coursework in power systems. 6-8 years of experience for senior roles, 10-15 years for principal roles in transmission planning or related fields. 2. Skills & Knowledge: Expertise in transmission system planning, regulatory compliance, and grid studies. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and presenting to stakeholders. Knowledge of market conditions, policy impacts, and grid modernization technologies. Proficiency in programming (Python, C#, Visual Basic.net) and data visualization tools is a plus. 3. Responsibilities: Lead long-term transmission planning initiatives, including reliability and interconnection studies. Manage multiple planning studies ensuring compliance and best practices. Serve as SME in regulatory proceedings. Collaborate with utilities, ISO/RTOs, and government agencies on grid expansion. Mentor junior engineers. Evaluate existing facilities and develop improvement projects for load growth and reliability. Coordinate design, engineering, and construction of projects. Participate in joint planning studies with other utilities. Assist in various studies and manage area planning for assigned participants, including meetings and load assessments. 4. Certifications: PE license preferred. Project management certifications (e.g., PMP) or MBA are beneficial. Each level builds on experience, knowledge, and leadership skills. Active participation in working groups is required to negotiate solutions protecting MEAG’s and participants’ interests. Direct Reports:
