Operations consists of our Brand & Communications, Central Tech, Finance, People, Real Estate/Workplace/Events/Facilities/Security (REWFS), Strategy & Operations, and Ventures teams. These teams provide the essential operations, services, and strategies needed to support CZIs progress toward achieving its mission to build a better future for everyone.
The Opportunity
At CZI, our people power our mission to build a better future for everyone. The Recruiting team plays a critical role in advancing that mission by identifying, attracting, and hiring exceptional, mission-aligned talent.
In this role, youll lead full-cycle recruiting across both our core G&A functions (including Operations, People, Legal, Finance, and Communications) and emerging talent programs, with a special focus on early-career and academic-to-industry pipelines in STEM and technical domains. You'll partner closely with hiring managers and cross-functional collaborators to ensure were bringing in individuals who offer both immediate impact and long-term potential.
As part of our small but mighty team, youll balance hands-on execution with opportunities to innovatebringing curiosity, structure, and care to each stage of the hiring process. You'll also help shape the future of our internship programs, technical university engagement, and early-career strategies as we build sustainable pathways for diverse and high-potential talent.

What You'll Do
Full-Cycle Recruitment: Own and execute the end-to-end recruiting processincluding sourcing, screening, advising, and closingfor a variety of roles across Operations and Business teams Strategic Hiring Partnership: Act as a consultative partner to hiring managersbuilding strong relationships, aligning on hiring needs, advising on market trends, and driving accountability through each stage of the search Emerging Talent Pipeline Development: Support the design, launch, and ongoing management of early-career and academic partnership programs, including internships and research-to-industry pathways University & Academic Engagement: Partner with internal stakeholders and external academic institutions to build strong, values-aligned talent channels, particularly in STEM and research-aligned domains Candidate Experience: Champion a high-quality, human-centered candidate experience by ensuring clarity, responsiveness, and empathy at every stage of the process Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve recruiting tools, workflows, and team practices that help us work more efficiently and effectively Data-Driven Recruiting: Use recruiting tools and data insights to monitor trends, optimize process performance, and inform broader talent strategies
What You'll Bring
35 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with a mix of G&A (e.g., Legal, Finance, People, Comms) and technical or early-career talent engagement strongly preferred Experience recruiting early-career talent through internships, universities, or academic-to-industry programs (e.g., STEM, research, or PhD/postdoc engagement) Skilled in sourcing, engaging, and closing high-quality candidates across diverse roles and experience levels Familiarity with academic institutions, technical student communities, or emerging talent development pipelines Experience partnering with academic institutions or working on university recruiting strategies (a plus if PhD, Master's, or undergrad talent engagement is part of your background) Strong organizational and time management skills, with a track record of driving searches forward efficiently and meeting key milestones Comfortable using recruiting metrics and data to guide decisions and improve outcomes Experience with ATS and sourcing tools such as Workday, Greenhouse, LinkedIn Recruiter, or SeekOut Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to build trust and credibility with both senior stakeholders and early-career candidates A growth mindset and a passion for operational excellence, inclusive hiring, and long-term talent development
Compensation
The Redwood City, CA base pay range for this role is $120,000 - $180,000. New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time. Actual placement in range is based on job-related skills and experience, as evaluated throughout the interview process.
