GenAI Annotation Operations Engineer

to lead the design and optimization of high-impact annotation projects and workflows that power AI research and development. This is a hands-on, highly cross-functional role for someone who enjoys designing and building efficient workflows, solving complex data problems, and collaborating with technical and non-technical teams. Serving as a technical lead for annotation project design, setup, and operations, you'll work closely with engineers, researchers, and operations leads to configure scalable workflows, integrate automation, and bring models into the loop. You'll also help design and maintain pipelines that support seamless task transitions across multi-stage workflows, enabling scalable, efficient annotation of high-quality datasets. What You'll Do: Set up, test, and maintain UI configurations for annotation tasks using a third-party annotation platform and internal tooling. Design and adapt automation scripts in annotation pipelines, data processing, logging, and telemetry. Collaborate with product managers, engineers, researchers, data annotators, and other cross-functional team members for annotation project setup, requirement gathering, prioritization, pre-annotation, post-annotation processing, and quality review. Act as the single-threaded owner of each project end-to-end from requirement gathering to dataset delivery. Communicate project updates, address concerns, and align expectations to ensure successful project outcomes. Track project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions as necessary to keep projects on course. Troubleshoot project setup issues, pipeline failures, and UI bugs. Develop and maintain technical guidelines, playbooks, and internal tools to build and operate annotation projects. Lead and support general annotation operation improvement initiatives across various data domains. What We're Looking For: Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience in operations (AI/NLP operations, product operations, or data analysis) or software development. Strong problem-solving skills with a systems-thinking and automation-first mindset. Proficiency with Python scripting for data processing and automation. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with both technical and operational teams. Familiarity with structured data formats (CSV, JSON, JSONL), cloud storage (e.g., S3), telemetry, and monitoring concepts. Experience with data annotation platforms, modern ETL systems, and machine learning is a bonus. Why Join Us: This is a unique opportunity to contribute to AI research by shaping how AI datasets are created with an emphasis on velocity and quality. You'll work in a fast-moving environment, applying your design, coding, and analytical skills to real-world problems, and playing a key role in building hybrid human-machine workflows that push the boundaries of what's possible.
