Job Description: The selected candidate shall report directly to the Supervisory Planner/Estimator and shall be responsible for planning, conducting ship checks, writing repair work items/specifications, and estimating labor, material, and subcontractor work at the paragraph and line-item level for U.S. Navy ship repair work, alterations, and modifications. Candidates shall be capable of assessing the ships material condition by conducting ship checks, researching ship documents, analyzing ship conditions and tests, and determining the scope of work required by reviewing and validating Work Notifications (2-Kilos). Candidates shall also interpret and utilize all technical and material information available in Navy, Shipbuilder, and Manufacturer drawings, technical manuals, documents, or Equipment Manufacturers data, and other pertinent commercial data to identify repair and modification requirements, as well as to identify, price, and order materials. Candidates will develop work items/specifications in accordance with NAVSEA 4-E requirements by utilizing NAVSEA instructions, pertinent NAVSEA Standard Items, and Class and Local Standard Work Templates. Familiarity with the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) and the use of available application programs to develop work items/specifications and labor, material, and cost estimates in accordance with NAVSEA instructions and directives is required. All Planner/Estimators will conduct ship checks as needed. Job Requirements/Skill Sets: Candidates must have knowledge of U.S. Navy ship construction, shipboard systems, equipment, and their operations, with experience in developing production planning documents and estimates for work performed at U.S. Navy depot level surface ship maintenance and modernization facilities. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. Trade Journeyman work experience or equivalent in a Naval Repair Facility or Commercial Shipyard specializing in U.S. Navy Ship repairs and alterations is required. Experience as a Planner, Estimator, or Shipbuilding Specialist at SUPSHIP commands, Regional Maintenance Centers (RMCs), Navy Central Planning Activities, or similar organizations is preferred. U.S. Navy active-duty experience is also preferred. Education Requirements: A high school diploma/GED is required; an Associates degree or higher is preferred. Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access: U.S. citizenship is required. Candidates must be eligible for and able to maintain a U.S. Secret Clearance and access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards. Benefits:
