As an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide therapeutic care to patients, focusing on administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, blood products, and managing patients requiring acute care prior to transfer to higher levels of care. Essential Duties
Follow policies and procedures; access online manuals and references. Apply scientific knowledge practically in nursing assessments and interventions. Perform nursing assessments and screenings upon patient encounters. Interpret assessment data to formulate diagnoses. Maintain accurate problem, medication, and allergy lists. Administer medications, complete reassessments, delegate tasks appropriately, and advocate for patients. Ensure complete and correct documentation of all encounters. Provide education to patients and families based on diagnosis or treatment plan. Maintain and identify issues with equipment such as blood pressure machines. Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and families using appropriate methods. Manage time effectively, organize responsibilities, and take meal breaks without overtime. Observe regulatory requirements such as safety goals, medication reconciliation, and HIPAA compliance. Participate in quality improvement data collection and process enhancements. Engage in professional development activities such as committees, workshops, and journal clubs. Accept additional duties as assigned, including assessing patient knowledge, assisting with procedures, and educating patients about their care. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or grandfathered prior to 12/2019. Minimum 1 year of healthcare experience. Excellent communication skills in English. Knowledge of medical procedures, including blood collection and apheresis. Preferred Qualifications
Oncology focus strongly preferred. Specialty certification in oncology preferred. Licenses and Certifications
Registered Nurse (CA Board) Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) within 30 days of hire Oncology Chemotherapy & Biotherapy certification when eligible Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association Hourly rate: $53.00 - $87.45. USC considers various factors when extending offers, including experience, education, and organizational considerations.
