Responsibilities According to the ACGME Institutional Requirements, “the purpose of graduate medical education (GME) is to provide an organized educational program with guidance and supervision of the resident, facilitating the resident’s ethical, professional and personal development while ensuring safe and appropriate care for patients.” In partnership with Morehouse School of Medicine, Bakersfield Memorial Hospital's Residency Program Director will help establish, build, and lead our program from the ground up to bring a Neurology Residency program to the Bakersfield community. The position will include leadership, administrative, teaching, and patient care responsibilities. Our focus on GME expansion aims to: Diversify the physician workforce and address the national physician shortage; Concentrate training opportunities on primary care; Address healthcare inequities, including racial disparities and care for underserved and vulnerable populations; Participate in the national initiative to train 300 additional underrepresented minority providers annually. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Specialty expertise and at least three (3) years of documented educational and/or administrative experience. MD or DO degree from an accredited institution. Valid license as a physician and surgeon in California (LIC OSTPHY – Osteopathic Phys-Surgeon). Preferred Qualifications At least five (5) years of teaching experience in a residency program, preferably as Core Faculty, Associate Director, or Director of a Neurology Residency. Overview Bakersfield Memorial Hospital features 385 general acute beds, 48 critical care beds, advanced surgical suites, a full-service Emergency Department, and specialized centers including a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Level II NICU, and the Sarvanand Heart and Brain Center.
