Assistant CRNA Clinical Director
University of Pittsburgh Physicians, Anesthesiology Department is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to help lead our Anesthesia team at UPMC Altoona!
Role Highlights:
Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, administration, and other departments Support over 30 CRNAs across 3 locations (UPMC Altoona, Altoona Surgery Center, UPMC Bedford) Use QGenda and Kronos for scheduling and timekeeping Report to CRNA Clinical Director and attend key meetings
About UPMC Altoona
Work in a state-of-the-art facility with 13 operating rooms and various off-site locations, including critical care units, emergency department, GI/endo suites, OB, EP, bronchoscopy, catheterization labs, interventional radiology, Neurointerventional labs, MRI/CT, and a six-room Surgery Center. Enjoy 8 or10-hour shifts and be part of a team committed to exceptional patient care and service.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee anesthesia care delivery, including pre-op evaluation, induction, maintenance, emergence, and post-op management. Perform clinical procedures such as IV/invasive line placement, intubation, extubation, and arterial blood gas sampling. Balance clinical and administrative duties; manage schedules, payroll, staffing, and compliance with policies and regulations. Lead departmental operations including budgeting, resource utilization, and equipment oversight. Participate in quality improvement, credentialing, and continuing education initiatives. Supervise CRNA staff, students, and support personnel; manage hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations. Ensure documentation accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across peri-anesthesia services. Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia education program Knowledgeable regarding controlled substance policies in accordance with Federal and state laws required. Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in nurse anesthesia. Experience in supervising or managing personnel preferred. Other Qualifications: Ability to understand, lead, and motivate personnel. Ability to organize, and set goals Strong verbal and written communication skills Computer skills preferred
This position is dependent upon successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the Business Unit practice
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. Board Certified, Recertified or eligible by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists. Current AHA-approved CPR certification required. AHA-approved ACLS/PALS certifications as required by institution of employ upon hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Registered Nurse (RN) Act 33 with renewal Act 34 with renewal Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
