We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to aid in the design, assembly, testing, and optimization of our system. Fourier engineers work in a hands-on, collaborative environment to solve problems and push progress forward. Qualified candidates should have prior hands-on experience working in a mechanical lab or industrial company. Roles and responsibilities

Design and build prototypes and product encasing

Create detailed design of mechanical structures and assemblies and work with appropriate manufacturers

Facilitate selection of the optimal hardware components (sensors, pipes, valves, etc.) from external suppliers

Create and maintain Balance of Plant cost/Bill of Materials

Assess failure modes that involve thermal/structural/electrical/chemical/fluid interactions

Problem solve and risk mitigation

Oversee the assembly and setup of benchtop test rigs, prototypes, and production units

Qualifications

Required: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

4+ years of relevant experience

Hands-on experience assembling mechanical systems

Experience designing and building structures, from 3D CAD and/or 2D drawings through fabrication and assembly

Experience designing and developing cost-effective solutions

Preferred: Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D) in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field

Experience in the following areas: Hands-on work with gas and/or water piping

FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis)

Designing and analyzing energy systems

Working with hydrogen or similar gasses

Mechatronics

Designing enclosures for electromechanical systems
