Position Overview: This is a dual-role position that blends hands-on execution with people management, structured to drive the future state of regulatory compliance while maintaining continuity of key operational functions. The Manager will lead the development and execution of regulatory compliance responsibilities, while also overseeing policy administration activities related to a legacy system. As the organization advances its modernization efforts, the focus of this role will increasingly center on regulatory compliance leadership. Essential Job Functions: Regulatory Compliance Monitor, analyze, and interpret regulatory insurance updates and bulletins at the state and federal level. Lead the implementation of regulatory changes impacting underwriting, forms, and operational processes. Develop internal corporate compliance standards to ensure adherence to external obligations. Support regulatory exams, audit responses, and DOI complaint handling through documentation and cross-department coordination. Drive awareness and understanding of compliance obligations across underwriting and operational teams. Maintain tracking tools for regulatory change management and contribute to compliance risk assessments. Oversee compliance office operations, including contract management, billing oversight, regulatory directories and subscriptions, and access controls for compliance systems and data. Policy Administration Manage end-to-end policy issuance, endorsements, and servicing activities within the legacy system during its decommissioning period. Ensure operational continuity, accuracy, and compliance of policy transactions until system sunsetting is complete. Lead the planning and execution of transition activities, including process simplification, documentation updates, and potential offloading to alternative solutions. Support resource planning and workload balancing during the legacy run-off period. Act as a liaison between underwriting, IT, and operations teams to coordinate system shut-down activities. Leadership and Team Management Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Regulatory Compliance teams, setting clear goals, and performance expectations. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, encouraging collaboration and teamwork across departments. Mentor and develop team members to enhance skills and knowledge. Provide appropriate learning opportunities and knowledge transfer as needed. Lead cross-functional project teams to help ensure timely delivery of initiatives. Additional job functions will be necessary for the success of this role. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in insurance, business, legal studies, or a related field. 7+ years of compliance and/or insurance industry experience. 2-4+ years in a people or process leadership role. Familiarity with the policy lifecycle and insurance regulatory environment. Demonstrated ability to manage transitional projects or sunsetting initiatives. Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Organized and able to manage concurrent responsibilities with shifting priorities. Preferred Qualifications Experience with policy admin systems, legacy platform transitions, or modernization projects. Working knowledge of state regulatory requirements and NAIC frameworks. Exposure to market conduct exams, filing approvals, or compliance program development. ORI is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
