Position Overview The Baker Act Coordinator oversees all Baker Act requirements and submissions to court to ensure compliance with Florida’s Baker Act Law.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
At least six (6) months of direct clinical experience in a healthcare environment; hospital or behavioral health setting preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology; prior experience with BA/MA preferred
Responsibilities
Provide ongoing Baker Act training to staff to ensure regulatory compliance
Oversee all Baker Act requirements and court submissions
Ensure timely submission of court documents, attend court hearings, and facilitate communication with involved parties
Monitor timelines for involuntary to voluntary admission transitions and court deadlines
Review charts daily for Baker Act status and update legal statuses in EMR
Maintain an accurate Court Roster and communicate changes to the team
During off-site hours, notify leadership and providers of Baker Act timeframes via email
Complete daily Baker Act reporting forms and communicate urgent issues to physicians or charge nurses
Assist with back-up duties and perform other tasks as assigned
Additional Notes Ensure compliance with all Baker Act regulations and maintain harmonious relationships within and outside the department.
