Description

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for developing, leading, and executing purchasing strategies. This ideal candidate must be well-versed in inventory management and purchasing for a company with multistate operations. This role will work out of our East Pilsen office in Chicago. Responsibilities

Closely monitor inventory and production levels to ensure that the quantity of supplies on hand is always within an acceptable range. Implement an effective inventory purchasing and tracking system. Quickly identify and respond to changing production trends and timelines to determine whether ordering changes may be required. Research and identify potential new suppliers across a variety of industries. Compare pricing, quality, and lead times of multiple vendors to help select the best supplier for the company’s needs. Build and maintain relationships and negotiate pricing with all the company’s suppliers and vendors. Regularly identify opportunities for cost savings and/or quality enhancements. Place and monitor orders with an understanding of the urgency of each order. Work closely with operations and facilities leadership to understand the needs of the business units and determine proper order quantities and frequencies. Coordinate shipping and delivery timelines to multiple locations. Regularly meet with key stakeholders to understand the projected flow of business and anticipated changes in purchasing needs. Create and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) records for each of the company’s products. Maintain detailed records of all purchase and receipt history for the company. Prepare cost estimates and timelines for new purchases. Anticipate supply issues and find a solution before it becomes a problem. Regularly update a list of alternative vendors and pricing for essential supply items.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, supply chain management, or related field required. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar purchasing or inventory management role required. Strong negotiating and interpersonal skills. Outstanding analytical and financial abilities. Be an excellent critical thinker and problem solver. Superb attention to detail and meticulous record keeping ability. Must have advanced Microsoft Office experience. Experience in cannabis or CPG industries is a plus. Salesforce experience is a plus. Must be 21 years of age or older and authorized to work in the United States. Must adhere to all laws, regulations, and policies associated with the industry.
