Job Purpose: The Plant Manager is primarily responsible for overall factory management, including activities in production and testing to meet goals related to quality, productivity, cost, plant profitability, asset performance, and business growth. The role involves managing operations, quality, and engineering, planning procedures and budgets, and developing personnel to ensure efficient operation. The Plant Manager develops schedules and manpower requirements for the assigned areas.
The Plant Manager ensures smooth operation by managing functional managers and specialists, maximizing production and efficiency, minimizing waste, setting performance goals, and fostering employee development through training and performance management. The role requires proactive planning, quick resolution of problems, and collaboration across departments. The Plant Manager is responsible for P&L performance, employee retention and development, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Manage personnel activities across the plant, interacting with various management levels.
Contribute to strategic direction through facility design, capital equipment purchase, process improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Lead management in weekly performance reviews and strategy setting to meet production and revenue targets.
Establish and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure profitable recurring business and growth into new opportunities.
Coordinate with operations, engineering, program management, and staff to prepare accurate proposals for contracts and new business, aligning capabilities with customer requirements.
Oversee product/service contract management, including forecasting, pricing, negotiations, new product launches, and scope management.
Participate in policy formulation and long-term goal setting.
Analyze activities, costs, and forecast data to monitor progress toward goals.
Ensure plant profitability, asset performance, and business growth.
Maintain primary responsibility for customer satisfaction.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Business.
10-15 years of managerial experience in contract manufacturing, preferably as an operations manager, finance, business unit manager, or manufacturing engineer.
Hands-on experience with MRP systems, NPI, Repair, Logistics, and capacity planning.
Strong communication, leadership, organization, and time management skills.
