Culmen International is seeking a skilled
Equipment Commissioning Specialist
to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in overseeing the lifecycle of radiation portal monitor (RPM) system commissioning and decommissioning projects in the DHS Radiation Portal Monitor Program (RPMP).
This is a remote/hybrid role with 70% travel in the domestic U.S. (TX, CA, WA, MI, SC, VA, FL, MS, NJ, and NY). Additional travel up to 2 times a year to client site in Bethesda, MD for meetings and training may be required.
This position involves 75% outdoor/25% indoor work on-site in all weather conditions and land, with an incentivized annual salary. The role is responsible for startup, testing, and validation of systems and equipment at client sites, ensuring proper installation and operation according to specifications. Travel to customer sites is required to provide technical support and ensure optimal system performance.
Responsibilities include:
Travel (up to 70%) for site surveys, equipment inspection, testing, and commissioning activities
Install and configure hardware/software systems at customer locations
Verify LAN and Network connections during commissioning
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
Conduct system setup, testing, and documentation
Decommission existing equipment with proper disposal plans
Review engineering designs and ensure compliance with standards
Provide training on system operation and maintenance
Track project milestones and prepare reports
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience
Ability to travel up to 70% and work outdoors in all weather conditions
Expertise in test and commissioning of scanning and networked systems
Knowledge of network protocols and troubleshooting
Strong communication skills
Physical and working conditions:
Lift equipment up to 40 pounds
Work in various environments, including outdoors
Travel as required
Flexible hours including weekends when traveling
Preferred qualifications:
Recent field service experience
Ability to interpret technical drawings
Experience with U.S. federal government clients and operations
Experience in commissioning electrical and mechanical systems
