The Mom Project Our Customer is a Silicon Valley-based company that is engaged in researching emerging technologies.
We are seeking a
contract
Android Engineer
to help support our Customer's business needs. This role is
on-site in Mountain View, CA.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain internal Android apps for demos and AI research testing. Rapidly prototype and polish app features for internal stakeholders and leadership demos. Collaborate closely with researchers, engineers, and UI designers across teams and time zones. Integrate AI models (e.g., LLMs, embeddings) into Android apps—on-device or via APIs. [Preferred] Interpret and port research logic (often in Python) into performant Kotlin/Java Android code. Participate in agile team meetings, adapting to evolving project goals and timelines.
Qualifications
3+ years of recent Android development experience. Strong command of Kotlin; working knowledge of Java. [Preferred] Experience with Jetpack Compose and architectural patterns like MVVM or MVI. Ability to deliver polished, demo-ready Android applications independently. Quick learning ability to adopt new libraries, tools, or SDKs (e.g., vector databases). [Preferred] Experience or understanding of AI model integration (e.g., LLMs, embeddings, ChatGPT API). [Preferred] Ability to read and adapt Python code for Android use. Strong communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional, research-heavy environment. Comfortable working with ambiguity, minimal supervision, and iterative workflows.
