The City of Banning is seeking a transformative and strategic Finance Director to lead its Fiscal Services and Information Technology Departments. As the City's Chief Financial Officer, you'll oversee finance, utility billing, purchasing, and IT during a pivotal period of organizational change and modernization.
This is an opportunity for a confident, collaborative leader to restore trust, build internal capacity, and guide the City's financial and digital infrastructure into the future. Banning is a full-service city with enterprise funds—including a municipal electric utility—requiring a director with deep public finance expertise, operational resilience, and a hands-on, people-centered approach.
The ideal candidate is experienced in municipal finance, labor relations, and IT governance. They are calm under pressure, politically astute, and ready to lead both strategy and day-to-day execution.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
10 years of public finance experience, including 5 in management
Experience with full-service cities, utility funds, and labor agreements preferred
CPA, CGFO, or CGFM desirable
