Openwork is currently engaged in a search to find a Cable Harness for a leading aerospace manufacturer located in South Austin. In this role, you’ll be responsible for building high-quality cable harnesses and wiring assemblies used in aerospace and defense applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in cable harness fabrication, soldering, and hold a valid J-STD certification.
As a Cable Technician, you’ll be responsible for:
Building cable harnesses, wire bundles, and electrical assemblies to exact engineering specifications
Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, blueprints, and assembly drawings
Performing soldering, crimping, and splicing in compliance with J-STD-001 standards
Using hand tools and specialized equipment for cable assembly, including wire strippers, heat guns, and multimeters
Conducting quality checks and testing completed harnesses for continuity and resistance
Ensuring all work meets internal and industry quality standards
Documenting work performed and reporting any discrepancies or required rework
Collaborating with production, engineering, and quality teams to meet deadlines and resolve technical issues
What you’ll need:
2+ years of experience building cable harnesses or electrical assemblies, with strong soldering skills (required)
J-STD-001 certification (required)
IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification is a plus
Strong knowledge of cable assembly techniques, including soldering, crimping, and routing
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams
Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
High school diploma or equivalent
Perks:
Hourly pay range: $20–$25/hr, based on experience
