Applied Scientist, ML Compiler at Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Overview The Automated Reasoning Group in the AWS Neuron Compiler team seeks an Applied Scientist to work at the intersection of AI and program analysis to raise the code quality bar in our deep learning compiler stack. The stack optimizes models from PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, and other leading frameworks. The role involves working closely with AWS’s custom ML accelerators (Inferentia and Trainium), which underpin generative AI.
Responsibilities As an Applied Scientist, you will design, develop, and deploy analyzers for ML compiler stages and compiler IRs, architect and implement business‑critical tooling, publish cutting‑edge research, and mentor a team of scientists and engineers. Your work will tackle challenges alongside a talented engineering team, contributing to leading‑edge design and research in compiler technology and deep‑learning systems software. You will need to be technically capable, credible, and curious.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high‑performance computing
PhD, or a Master’s degree and 2+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in professional software development
Publication record in automated reasoning or compiler construction
Knowledge of interactive theorem provers such as Lean
Experience with heuristic search, e.g., fuzzers
