We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Thameside. HMP Thameside is a category B remand prison located in South East London, close to Plumstead and Woolwich Arsenal stations. The prison houses around 1,232 patients with a variety of needs including substance misuse and mental health. Within this role you will be working in a busy healthcare environment, where no two days are the same. Ideal applicants will enjoy working in a fast‑paced role and have previous experience with substance misuse prescribing. Applicants with a keen interest in delivering training and development for junior prescribing staff will be welcomed to this role.

Hours Monday 9am‑5pm, Wednesday 9am‑5pm

Salary This role has a salary of up to £134,680 FTE per annum depending on experience

What you'll be doing

Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, and therefore as a General Practitioner at Practice Plus Group you get the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldn’t usually experience within a practice, or even A&E environment.

Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.

Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as to the patients you work with, having active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Qualifications required

MBChB or MBBS

Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List

Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal

Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice

Evidence of continuing professional development

Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse

RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
