Software Engineer III, Persistent Disk Capacity Google’s software engineers develop next‑generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. As part of the Persistent Disk team, you will work on building a data platform for Google Cloud’s block storage system that provides mission‑critical storage solutions to thousands of enterprises.

Minimum qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Experience building and architecting scalable distributed systems in a production environment.

Preferred qualifications

Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.

2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.

Experience developing accessible technologies.

Experience with C++.

About the job In this role, you will build a data platform for Persistent Disk, Google Cloud’s block storage system. You will work on efforts around how to store, represent, secure and optimize data, building a platform that is reliable, efficient, secure, and scalable. The team is part of the ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization that designs, implements, and manages the infrastructure for all Google services.

Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.

Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide among available technologies.

Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices.

Contribute to existing documentation or educational content.

Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing sources of issues and impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

US base salary range for this full‑time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Salaries are determined by role, level, location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
