Field Safety Sales Specialist – Airgas
Location: San Jose, CA – Hobson – Retail shop (territory includes Hayward to Salinas)
Salary Range: $70,000–$80,000 plus commission.

Responsibilities
Manage and grow Airgas business within the San Jose market, meeting corporate and regional sales objectives.
Sell all Airgas products to customer base and achieve sales growth, profitability growth, and accounts receivable targets.
Adhere to Airgas Code of Conduct, policies, procedures and all applicable regulations.
Develop and execute regional sales and marketing plans.
Actively pursue and acquire new and competitive accounts with emphasis on profit margin.
Review regional sales goals and profit margins, monitor effectiveness of sales and marketing efforts.
Maintain clear communication with internal departments regarding customer successes, failures, new developments.
Travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers.
Identify and qualify prospective customers; update manager on findings.
Interpret customer needs and make appropriate recommendations to increase sales opportunities.
Research and analyze market data to determine new customers, sales volume potential, pricing strategy.
Serve as a resource for other sales representatives, assisting with customer calls and providing product/industry training.
Qualifications
Ability to multitask in a high‑volume setting.
Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
Team oriented with continuous improvement outlook.
Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fraction‑decimal conversions).
Computer proficiency; working knowledge of Excel, SAP, Salesforce, Google Workspace preferred.
Professional appearance and demeanor reflective of a corporate office environment.
High energy, self‑starter, excellent customer service and relationship orientation.
Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Writing routine business reports and correspondence; presenting information to associates and management.
Ability to travel overnight for onsite meetings within territory.
High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years of outside sales experience.
Knowledge of safety products and services desired.
Proven change‑management skills (sponsorship, communications, stakeholder management).
Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle with insurance as required.
QSSP, OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
Work Environment & Safety
Must sit for long periods and stand to perform work; reach with hands and arms; lift, push, pull or move up to 30–50 lbs with assistance.
Vision requirements: close, color, peripheral, ability to adjust focus.
Noise level moderate–noisy; possible extreme weather exposure.
