Software Development Manager, Item Identity Services
We are seeking a Software Development Manager to spearhead the development of innovative solutions that will enrich and optimize product data to address inaccuracies and inefficiencies throughout Amazon Supply Chain and Fulfillment networks. This role is a unique opportunity to lead a team working on high‑visibility projects, collaborating with multiple teams across SVP organisations.
Key job responsibilities
Drive technical vision and architecture, making strategic decisions that balance innovation with operational excellence.
Manage stakeholder communications and project visibility across organizations.
Lead and grow a high‑performing engineering team through effective hiring, mentoring, and career development while fostering an inclusive Agile/Scrum environment.
Own end‑to‑end delivery, including planning, execution, and metric‑driven success measurement.
Balance business requirements against technical constraints.
Establish robust monitoring, alerting, and automation systems to maintain operational excellence and manage technical debt effectively.
Create and optimise feedback loops with Selling Partners to drive sustained data quality improvements across global marketplaces.
Drive technical innovation through complex distributed systems design, ML/AI implementation and continuous process improvement.
Establish technical best practices for critical catalog platform services.

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of engineering team management experience.
7+ years of working directly within engineering teams.
3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) new and existing systems.
8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services.
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live‑site operations.
Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
