Senior Engineer – Grid Code & Interconnection
to help shape industry standards and ensure compliance of our wind turbine and power plant controller (PPC) solutions.
Role Overview In this role, you will lead grid code compliance efforts, contribute to industry standards, collaborate across engineering and product teams, and support interconnection studies for major North American power markets.
Key Responsibilities
Represent Vestas in industry groups (IEEE, NERC, FERC, ESIG, EPRI).
Support development of standards for inverter-based resources (IBRs).
Ensure PPC and turbine compliance for ISOs/RTOs (ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, ISO-NE, etc.).
Monitor regulatory changes and translate them into engineering requirements.
Collaborate with R&D to guide compliance-driven product features.
Lead investigations of grid code issues and support interconnection studies.
Engage with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and consultants to resolve technical concerns.
Deliver internal training and support knowledge sharing across global teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
10+ years in renewable energy, utility interconnection, or power systems.
Strong knowledge of IBR behavior, grid codes, and interconnection processes.
Experience with PSCAD, PSS/E, TSAT, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
Participation in IEEE, NERC, or ESIG working groups.
Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
