This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Youth and Families Program Director will plan, promote, and supervise youth, teen and family programs and events at the Lawrence YMCA. Key Responsibilities

Ensuring innovative program development and high‑quality program delivery at the Lawrence YMCA that is healthy, engaging, and enjoyable. Expanding programs outside the facility and into community spaces (parks, schools, etc.) while documenting metrics and engagement. Coordinating a yearly program calendar and leading all program promotional efforts with Marketing, Membership, and Welcome Desk teams. Leading, organizing, and executing annual recurring programs and events such as Healthy Kids Day, YBL, Welcoming Week, Splash Bash, and the Family Engagement Calendar. Developing a team that delivers excellent service and exceeds member expectations, including recruiting, hiring, coordinating staff, instructors, coaches, and volunteers, and evaluating performance annually. Maximizing space and member opportunity by planning efficient use of facility space and collaborating with other directors to enhance member satisfaction. Financial accountability: meeting or exceeding monthly and annual program revenue goals within budget constraints. Reporting: regularly tracking and monthly reporting on fiscal health, program metrics, conducting surveys, analyzing feedback, and managing net promoter score improvements quarterly. Good management practices: modeling relationship‑building and listening skills, creating an inclusive environment, assuring safety with effective risk management, championing a culture of service excellence, ensuring compliance with child protection regulations, meeting program standards, and maintaining general tidiness. Other responsibilities: mandatory attendance for all required trainings and meetings, performing any additional functions necessary to support smooth operation and overall Y success. Collaborative Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with Branch leadership to recruit, hire, train, and develop staff and volunteers. Collaborate on philanthropy efforts, including active roles in annual campaigns and planning committees to meet campaign goals. Participate in outreach activities to grow Y’s community impact. Support membership, promotions, building coverage, and other day‑to‑day operations as needed. Qualifications

Associate’s degree or minimum 3 years full‑time equivalent experience in youth development, human or social services, recreation, or equivalent. Knowledge of, and previous experience with, children, families, and diverse populations. Excellent customer service, oral, and written communication skills. Proven ability to execute staff trainings and facilitate group programming. Ability to oversee programs through supervision of volunteers and staff. Effective organizational and project management skills. Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Organized, accurate record‑keeper. Collaborative team player. CPR, AED, First Aid certification preferred; must obtain within agreed timeframe. Work Environment & Physical Demands

Requires sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to supervise activities indoors and outdoors. Regular use of computer, tablet, and/or smartphone for extended periods. May stand, sit, squat, walk, balance, stoop, bend, or kneel while performing duties. Frequent sitting and reaching, requiring mobility around the work environment. Occasionally lift or move up to 35 pounds. Vision requirements: close and distance vision, with ability to adjust. Noise level is usually moderate. Leadership Competencies
