Team Description The Upmarket CLIP team builds industry‑leading machine learning models to provide optimal credit lines to our high‑value customers. We support proactive, reactive, and interactive strategies and work collaboratively across the data science, business analysis, engineering, and product teams to manage the full model lifecycle—from development and deployment to monitoring and governance.

Role Description In this role, you will:

Partner with a cross‑functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver a product customers love.

Leverage a broad stack of technologies—including Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more—to uncover insights hidden within huge volumes of numeric and textual data.

Build machine learning models through all phases of development: design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.

Translate the complexity of your work into tangible business goals, communicating effectively with stakeholders.

Technical: comfortable with open‑source languages, passionate about developing further, and experienced with cloud‑based data science solutions.

Statistically‑mindful: built and validated models, interpreted confusion matrices or ROC curves, and experienced with clustering, classification, sentiment analysis, time series, and deep learning.

Data guru: adept at retrieving, combining, and analyzing data from a variety of sources and structures.

Basic Qualifications

Currently holds or is in the process of obtaining one of the following, with the expected degree completed on or before the scheduled start date:

A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field) plus 2 years of experience performing data analytics.

A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s or PhD in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).

Experience working with AWS.

At least 2 years’ experience in Python, Scala, or R.

At least 2 years’ experience with machine learning.

At least 2 years’ experience with SQL.

Salary

McLean, VA: $133,000 – $151,800 for Senior Associate, Data Science.

Other locations: pay range as per site, with annualized salary offered at time of hire.

This role is eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation (cash bonus, LTI).
