About The Role The rise of GenAI has created both new risks and opportunities for platforms, underscoring the need for thoughtful experts who can help design and strengthen next-generation controls. In this role, you'll work hand-in-hand with our safety and identity teams, crafting the strategies that keep our platform ahead of these emerging risks. You'll collaborate closely with our identity team to spot potential vulnerabilities early and help design creative, practical solutions. You'll also help guide the implementation of safety features across every dimension of our platform, preventing potential harm and fostering respectful interactions between users.
What You'll Do
Work directly with Uber's safety and identity teams at the global, regional, and local levels to shape how we use technology to protect the platform and help keep users safe
Advise on the use of GenAI technologies impacting our safety and identity programs
Draft and review commercial agreements with other tech companies, partners, and NGOs
Confidently leverage data to inform your assessment of legal risks
Coordinate legal advice across diverse disciplines and geographies, and clearly and effectively communicate the practical legal implications of business decisions
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of five (5) years of legal experience in government, private practice, and/or in‑house
J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state
Open to traveling both domestically and internationally
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of in‑house experience, preferably in tech
Experience with safety, identity, risk, fraud, litigation, and commercial transactions
Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative with business leaders and legal groups, with a strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner across functions
Self‑motivation with a strong affinity for vision setting, problem solving, and driving action
For San Francisco, CA‑based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$208,000 per year - USD$231,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
